At the RM sale auction in California on Saturday night, a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4*S NART Spyder sold for $27.5 million, making it the largest amount ever paid for a Ferrari and a non-racer vehicle. The 1967 Ferrari NART Spyder was one out of only 10 built and is named for the company’s North American Racing Team. Starting the bid at $10 million and only guessing to reach between $14 million and $17 million, the winning bid, being at $27.5 million, exceeds that and some. Overall sales at the RM auction reached a total of $244 million. Sale continued at a steady rate of 54 percent. The previous owner of the 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4*S NART Spyder is Eddie Smith Sr. The person at the auction that won the Ferrari was an undisclosed bidder.
