Subaru went back to their drawing board and came up with a masterpiece! The 2014 Subaru Forester, with its great reputation as for being an all-weather car, is now new and improved. Unlike its past generation, the new Forester isn’t as fuel costly and doesn’t have an old and aging cabin. The dashboard follows the new and improved motto with a more spacious driving space and mounted lower. For the rear passengers, they have easier access to the back, thanking the new larger door openings and wider doors. The A pillar was also moved forward an additional eight inches. With the new exterior and interior improvements, you truly appreciate the effort the designers put into it. The wider and larger third generation also comes with stretch wheelbase. And an important features added to the interior is it’s airier. Due to smart engineering, hip and shoulder room is also more spacious.
Trunk space has increased by 10% and for the first time, the Forester has a powered tailgate. When folding the splinted seats, you get an addition almost 75 cubic feet from the original almost 35 cubic feet. The 2014 Subaru Forester’s inspiration is the Impreza and XV Crosstreck. Also improved is the visibility and sight-lines, so there should be no reason to complain. Every model comes with niceties air conditioning, four-speaker stereo, hands-free Bluetooth with included voice activation, and power windows.
Not only is there improved exterior and interior but also improved safety features. Improvements include high-stretch steel in the chassis, refined roof pillars, a camera-based Eyesight system, used for active cruise control, collision avoidance, and lane-departure warning, and instruction beams. Along with the usual safety features, you get an additional airbag, known as the “knee bag”, which is one more airbag from the previous Forester. Also improved is there stereo system, making an optional eight-speaker, 440-watt audio system for better entertainment and touch-screen navigation with easier use.
This SUV, for most of the 2014 Subaru Forester, has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder boxer engine. This engine can generate up to 170 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. A new six-speed manual transmission is also included to replace the old five-speed. You also have the option of the CVT transmission which replaces the four-speed automatic.
What’s a CVT you ask? The CVT is a double-edged sword producing a 0 to 60 mph in just over half a second and is also more efficient. With mpg, you get 24 city and 32 highway, which is a much improvement from the previous 21 city and 27 highway.
Subaru is known for their symmetrical all-wheel-drive system which provides more traction in a loud environment or conditions. The latest features the company provides is a system called X-mode. This feature gives the Forester control over hills and off-roading. To mode activates once you exceed 25 mph and use a switch by the gear-lever.
The base trim as a starting price of $21,995, but if you want to include the CVT, which will be an addition $1,000. There are numerous packages as well as numerous trim levels to choose from with a variety of prices.
Overall, the designers and engineers did a superb job on recreating this third generating 2014 Subaru Forester SUV. With improved exterior, interior, safety, fuel improvement, and performance, what’s not to love?
