After a long wait, the fourth-generation Escalade is finally back and ready to launch. This massive SUV’s performance is top-notch. Features included are the Magnetic Ride Control Suspension which constantly monitors both road conditions and the driver input. Also included is a push-button system that folds the second and third-row seats. This beauty will be having a 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 that produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. This new engine will have direct injection, variable valve timing, and displacement on demand which means that half of the cylinders will shot off when the power demands are at a certain low. You will have the choice of either all-wheel drive or rear-wheel-drive and will have a 6-speed gearbox.
Cadillac’s design team describes the new exterior and interior to be “bold” and “premium”. There will be a massive grille that will surround the Cadillac logo, front and back distinctive vertical lighting cues, and new LED daytime running lamps. There will be two body styles offered, the standard Escalade and the stretched Escalade ESV, which adds on 14 more inches compared to the standard. You will have a choice of different seating configurations, which can handle up to eight passengers. The seats are newly sculpted to improve comfort and the front and second-row buckets will come with heating and cooling.
With improved technology comes an eight-inch center screen that uses captive touch technology, gesture recognition to operate the CUE infotainment system, and a 12-inch reconfigurable display. Safety systems include a new front and rear automotive breaking, which replies on short-range radar technology and ultrasonic sensors to help from a front or rear low-speed collision, an anti-theft technology, and new center-mounted airbags. Starting MSRP for the 2015 Cadillac Escalade rear-drive is $64,740.
