Toyota Motor Corp. will be working with the University of Tokyo and Dentsu Inc. to help co-develop the first robot to have a human/robot conversation in space. This experiment is part of a study to make machines that can help and interact with people living by themselves.  This 13-inch-tall robot is named “Kirobo,” and is made to remember human voices and to respond in Japanese. The launch to space from Japan is scheduled to take off in August. The robot will then wait until around November/December for astronaut Koichi Wakata to conduct the first robot/human chat in space. Toyota is working in helping develop the robot with Japan because of its fast-aging populations. University of Tokyo Associate Professor Tomotaka Takahashi stated, “In about 15 years, we want to see a society where everyone is living with a personal robot.”
